What happens on installation day?
We complete the work in a clear sequence. This helps the installation team work efficiently and gives your school a straightforward plan for the day.
1. Prepare the installation area
Before we begin assembling the canopy, we check the agreed location and prepare the working area.
This includes:
Confirming the position of the structure
Checking that materials and tools can be moved safely to the site
Protecting the surrounding area where necessary
Marking out the locations for the timber posts
Reviewing the ground conditions
You’ll need to keep children and unauthorised staff away from the work area while installation is taking place. We can discuss temporary fencing, access routes and suitable working arrangements before the installation date.
2. Assemble the timber frame
We then position and assemble the timber frame. Our canopies are handcrafted in Cornwall using locally sourced sustainable timber.
The frame installation includes:
Positioning the main timber posts

Once the timber frame is secure, we fit the selected roof cover.

PVC covers are waterproof, durable and straightforward to maintain.
Canvas covers provide a natural appearance and suit forest school and woodland settings.
The cover is tensioned and checked so that it provides suitable protection from rain and allows water to run off correctly.
4. Anchor the structure
The final construction stage is to anchor the canopy securely.
We check:
The position and stability of each post
The anchoring points
The tension of the cover
The overall alignment of the structure
The condition of the surrounding area
We then complete a final inspection before handing the space back to you.

Good access helps the team move materials and tools into position safely.
Before we arrive, check:
Whether a vehicle can reach the installation area
Whether gates are wide enough for delivery

Whether any paths or playground areas need to remain open
Whether access is affected by drop-off and collection times

Will installation disrupt lessons and playtimes?

During installation, you’ll need to keep pupils away from the construction area. However, the disruption is normally limited to the installation day.

Do you need to close the playground?
You should only need to close the section of the playground or grounds where we are working.
You may not need to close the whole school site. We can discuss how to separate the installation area from other outdoor spaces so that pupils can continue using suitable parts of the grounds safely.
