Frequently Asked Questions
What types of outdoor canopies do you offer?
We currently build two main styles of canopy, all handmade in Cornwall and available for schools, forest schools, and groups across the UK:
Tree Outdoor Classroom Canopy - an open, pole-free design, ideal for storytelling, campfires, and group learning.
Gather Outdoor Classroom Canopy - flexible and adaptable for outdoor classrooms, available as tree-suspended, pole-based, or timber-framed.
Roundhouse Canopy - a timber-framed outdoor classroom with a circular design and central vent, perfect for year-round use. COMING SOON!
Each canopy can be customised to your site and is built to last.
Are your canopies made in the UK?
Yes, all our outdoor canopies are handmade in Cornwall using sustainable, locally sourced materials wherever possible. Every canopy is carefully crafted to combine strength, weather resistance, and natural beauty, making them ideal for schools, nurseries, forest schools, and community groups across the UK.
Are the canopies weatherproof?
Our canopies are built for the all weather. Each design uses treated timber and a choice of PVC or canvas covers for durability, water resistance, and protection from wind and rain. The canvas we use is fire rot and waterproof to British safety certification and tested before it leaves the factory on the roll we buy it on. Schools and groups can use them throughout the year, making outdoor learning possible whatever the weather.
Can your canopies be customised for my site?
Yes. Whether you need a canopy suspended between trees, supported by a central pole, or installed with a timber frame, we adapt every design to your location. We also offer canopies in canvas or 650gsm PVC which comes in a range of colours. We advertise the most popular size here but can make them larger or smaller to suit your site! Just let us know and we will work with you to make sure you get what you need!
Do you provide delivery and installation?
We offer delivery and full installation packages across the UK. Our experienced team ensures your canopy is set up safely and correctly, so you can begin using it straight away.
How long does installation take?
The timescale depends on the design and your location. Generally:
Fabrication: usually 3–4 weeks (up to 8 weeks at busy times)
Delivery & installation: 1–3 days on site
We’ll provide a clear timeline once we’ve assessed your site and agreed your design.
How long will a canopy last?
With proper care, our handmade timber canopies last many years. Treated wood resists rot and decay, and durable PVC or canvas covers are designed for long-term outdoor use. We have a canopy which has been up at a Forest School for 10 years still going strong! We also provide seasonal care advice to help you extend the life of your canopy.
Can the canopy be used all year round?
Yes, our canopies are suitable for year-round outdoor learning and activities. Many schools, nurseries, and forest schools use them as outdoor classrooms, fire circles, and gathering spaces.
Do you work with schools and groups outside of Cornwall?
Yes. While all canopies are handmade in Cornwall, we deliver anywhere in the world and can deliver and install throughout the UK and Europe. Schools, nurseries, forest schools, and community groups from Cornwall to Scotland have chosen MyCanopy for their outdoor spaces.
